Batgirl At Super Hero High (DC Super Hero Girls) Review

I got this in audio book form and it written by Lisa Yee and read to us by Mae Whitman. For starters, Mae Whitman did a phenomenal job reading this book. She was perfect. The book itself, I had a bit of trouble getting into the story at first, only because my children were definitely too young for it (3 year-old girl and 8 year-old boy) and I was trying to answer a lot of their questions. The story itself was very uplifting and I think would be a wonderful book for younger girls. Learning that being unique isn't bad. I think it addresses a lot of issues that girls are faced with in a positive way. I will be hanging onto this book, because I'm sure it will be loved. **I received this book free for reviewing purposes, however all opinions are my own.

Warren the 13th and The All-Seeing Eye

*Possible Spoiler Alert* This was a really cute book by Tania del Rio.  There was a contest and I was given this book as a prize. I wasn't sure what it was about when I started reading it, but it's a great book. I think my kids would enjoy it also. It's not a book for grown ups necessarily but if you can appreciate a good story, you'll like this book. Poor Warren is an orphan being raised by his inattentive uncle and evil aunt is a run down hotel that he will inherit someday. Nobody has been the the hotel in years, when one day they get a strange guest. After that Warren finds out about his heritage and courageously saves his friends and the hotel. I received this book for free but all opinions are honest and my own.

Junie B Jones First Grader (at last!) First Ever Musical Edition Review

I got this book as an audiobook, which is exciting for me because reading is so important and finding ones that my kids will enjoy is important to me. The book was written by Barbara Park and narrated by Lana Quintal. The book is written with cute language that you could expect a typical 6 year-old to use. I guess it could potentially teach your children the wrong way to speak, but that isn't an issue for me. The narrator has the cutest, perfect voice for this book. She did a fantastic job. The book is about Junie B entering the first grade and her struggles with peers, her teacher and finding out she needs glasses.  The first disc is the book itself and the second is 15 fun songs about the book. The songs weren't as much fun for me as listening to the book itself. They aren't bad, I just really liked the book. I would definitely recommend this book for long trips or even while you color and play. I'm definitely going to check out more Junie B books. *UPDATE* My kids ...

Doodletopia Faries by Christopher Hart

First, this is not the type of book I usually go for. I am not artistic in the least bit. I am crafty, but seeing things in my head and getting them to come out on paper or otherwise has always been a challenge for me. Needless to say, I wasn't very hopeful, but it looked like so much fun, how could I resist? It's a very nice book. With good instructions, and great illustrations. I was surprised to find that it is not a small book. It's a nice big book so you can see what it is they want you to do. The written instructions were just okay, but if you just copy what the illustrations are telling you to do, even an art wannabe like me can make a pretty cool picture! I even bought a special little book to draw my fairies in. I think this is just as fun and relaxing as coloring, but you get to create something. Something of your own! So if you want to create something that's easy and fun, I definitely recommend this book. *I got this book for free in exchange for my re...

Think Happy By Karen Salmansohn Review

Image
I read "Think Happy, Instant Peptalks to Boost Positivity" By Karen Salmansohn. I'm on a new spiritual mission in my life to be more positive and try to bring more harmony and positivity into my life, so this seemed like a great choice for me. I have a whole Pinterest board dedicated to being positive and changing the way you think so you can have a happier life. Now onto the book! This book is broken down into different sections, so that you can assess the situation and decide which section you need at that very moment. It has very nice illustrations and detailed explanations of why the author is giving the advice she's giving. My personal opinion is the book was very cutsey, which was not what I was looking for. I'm a practical person, and I like practical advice. She's giving good advice, but I'm not crazy about the way that it's delivered."No matter how awesome you are, you won't be everyone's cup of tea- but no worries. You'...

The Night Voyage Review

Image
The Night Voyage... This book... First this is a coloring book, but not just a coloring book, it's kind of a story also. It is the prettiest, most intricate coloring book I've ever owned. In the back of the book, there is a beautiful card you can color and cut out as well as a visual index. It is a great mixture of coloring book and story book. I love it so much, I didn't even want to color it in, because I didn't want to mess it up. I actually went out and bought some decent colored pencils (Prismacolor!) just for this book. I didn't use any markers or pens, but I'm a little worried because the pages are double sided that if you were to use them, it may bleed through and ruin the picture. The paper quality is amazing and smooth and the coloring comes out like a dream.   I love the way that these pencils feel on the paper.  I'm definitely going to take my time finishing it, and enjoy every bit of this beautiful book. Daria Song did such an amazing job, I...

June: A Novel By: Miranda Beverly-Whittmore Review

*Possible Spoiler Alert* I read "June: A Novel" written by Miranda Beverly-Whittmore. It took me awhile to read this book, unfortunately life gets in the way of your fun sometimes, but finally I had time to finish it and I am so impressed.  I love this book. It is exactly what your heart needs, that classic romance without all of the trash mixed into it. The more delicate parts were very gently written, which made me feel a lot better, I'm not one who enjoys graphic, raunchy, descriptions of love scenes, and I'd rather leave them out. Even though the book did not go EXACTLY the way I wanted it to, the story itself is just wonderful. I found myself caring deeply for Lindie, even though she wasn't necessarily the main focus of the story. She was a huge part, and I really felt for her. I received this book in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my very own.
